Whether you believe or not! Walking with the soles of the dead is not funny! (RMR CAT 3)
Walk where others fear to tread, you are not alone.
Walking with the dead, in every sense.
Footwear tells strange stories; they reflect the owner. They carry the weight of their wearers, absorbing years of footsteps, emotions, and experiences. But what happens when those stories refuse to die? Across the world, eerie tales persist of haunted shoes, objects that move on their own, whispers in the dark, or bring misfortune to anyone who dares to wear them.
Unlike haunted houses, which can be escaped, or cursed objects that can be locked away, shoes are intimate, worn close, touching skin, becoming part of us. The horror lies in their inescapability. Once possessed, they might never let go.
The investigation starts with Irene remembering to pick up the phone to call Ralph, her voice she thought trembled out of exhaustion and fear. "Ralph," she said, her words barely above a whisper, "it's the tapping. It’s... it’s everywhere. It won’t stop.". Ralph smiled to himself for he could hear in the background continual tapping, similar to that of a woodpecker.
For Irene the phenomenon had started weeks ago a faint, rhythmic tapping in the walls of their modest home. At first, they thought it was a mouse, maybe faulty plumbing. But as the days passed, the sound became more deliberate, more menacing. The taps weren’t random anymore they had a pattern, almost like a code, and they seemed to follow them from room to room. “I thought we could escape it,” Irene continued, her voice cracking. “We left the house, stayed at a hotel, but the tapping... it came with us. It’s always there. Always near me.” She paused, her breath catching as though the words themselves frightened her. "It’s like it knows where I am, Ralph. Even if I move to another room, the taps are right behind me. No one else hears it as closely as I do it’s like it’s... attached to me." And so the investigation began....
